Best Motivational Stories 1 – Eliot

This is one of the best motivational videos I have seen in a long time.

It is a true life story about a little boy with the Edwards Syndrome (Trisomy 18) – which has some similarities to the Down Syndrome. This motivational video shows how Eliot Hartman Mooney survives each day, bravely defying the virtually insurmountable odds stacked against him. Every day this boy survives is a miracle.

best motivational stories - eliot-mooneyEliot Mooney was born with an undeveloped lung, a heart with a hole in it and DNA that placed faulty information into each and every cell of his body. However, that could not stop the living God from proclaiming Himself through this boy who never uttered a word” – Matt Mooney.

This motivational video is one of the most inspirational stories you will ever come across and can only inspire us to be the best we can – even if it is just for a little while…

Through this inspirational video, little Eliot (together with is loving mom, Ginny and dad, Matt Mooney) has showed us that life is a a gift to be lived to the fullest.

When I hear somebody sigh, “Life is hard,” I am always tempted to ask, “Compared to what?“. Do we measured life by the number of breaths we take, or by the moments that take our breath away?

Do we live each day as if it were your last day on earth? And do we love as if it was our first day in Heaven? Maybe the perfect romance does not exist…but true love does. It exists between a dog and a little boy, between a little boy and his mom and dad, between his parents and their closest friends, between lovers….. Between boys too young to die but who willingly sacrifice their  very lives when violence casts a long dark shadow on their friends’ path of true potential.

Closest friends are the ones that have stood by you through the hard times… supported your decisions… made a real effort to understand your hard decisions… gave you a shoulder to cry on…..gave you their time…..

We have wasted all too many Yesterdays… and all too many Today’s… and placed too much potential (and hope) on our all too well planned Tomorrow’s. Don’t use our tomorrows as an excuse for not doing what we should have done today.

Today, not tomorrows, offer us the most potential to be special and to do something great.  Tomorrows are all too often  just a moving target – like a ship that never reaches its destination.  Todays, are paid for in full with blood, sweat and tears.  Tomorrows, on the other hand, are just borrowed time, an uncommitted promise – not paid for with true human capital.  To put it bluntly, Tomorrows are just unfulfilled dreams.  Today is the stuff legends and breakthroughs are made of.  What is done today can be the turning point of your future.

May we never waste another day on earth. Make each day simply remarkable – as if it was our last.  Lifetimes are an unknown quantity.  Like a row of candles.  No one knows which candle will be the first to be extinguished when a sudden gush of wind fills the room.  How quickly they go away.  How wonderful they were when they shone brilliantly through the dark!

So the next time you feel the urge to complain or grumble or say an unkind word, spare a thought for little Eliot, the miracle baby boy.  Eliot has taught us how to live each day to the fullest.  His spirit lives in each and everyone of us. Let not our all-too-fleeting Todays be wasted on things that do not count in the long run.

Any updates on the new baby??
